An Adler diamond and gold necklace, with yellow gold, alternating, curved trapezoid shaped, ribbed links, with alternating outer and inner edges set with round brilliant-cut diamonds, in white gold grain settings, mounted in 18ct gold, signed "adler" with an Italian 7.500 mark, circa 1990, with an approximate total diamond weight 10.00 carats.
Adler was founded in 1886, by Jacques Adler, a Swiss born, Viennese trained jeweller and goldsmith. He opened a modest jewellery shop, in Istanbul, which at that time was the world capital of jewellery. His combination of European experience and the rich jewellery traditions of the East gained the admiration of his customers and the status of a jeweller by royal appointment.
In 1955 Jacques’ son, Edouard, took over the running of the business.
In 1972, the founder’s grandsons Franklin, with his wife Leyla and Carlo Adler, decided to return to their family’s historical roots in Switzerland, one of the leading countries of global jewellery production, opening a boutique in Geneva.
Currently at the helm is Karen Adler and since 2015, Allen and Daisy Adler represent the fourth generation.
Still a family business, the firm operates boutiques in Gstaad, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Moscow. Making innovative designs, specializing in transformable pieces and the use of colour combinations. All jewellery is handmade, in three workshops, by nine craftspeople, that the company works with exclusively, in Geneva and Rome.
