An antique diamond crescent brooch, set with old-cut diamonds, weighing an estimated total of 8.55 carats, set with a row of old-cut diamonds, graduating from the centre, in cut down settings, with three rose-cut diamonds at each end, surrounded by old-cut diamonds, in a grain set channel, with a flat edge on the inside and a gold pierced gallery on the outside curve, mounted in silver-upon-gold, circa 1890, with a later pin and roller catch fitting. In Victorian symbolism the crescent or new moon represented a new relationship. Hopeful it will "wax" into matrimony.
