An antique crescent brooch, set with natural pearls, graduating from the centre, spaced with tapered settings with rose-cut diamonds, and an inner row, grain set with rose-cut diamonds, mounted in silver-upon-gold, on a gold pierced gallery, circa 1890, with a removable gold pin, accompanied by Netherlands Gemmological Laboratory certificate P 5724 stating that the eleven pearls are natural saltwater pearls.

In Victorian symbolism the crescent or new moon represented a new relationship. Hopeful it will "wax" into matrimony.
