French, Art Nouveau Ruby Diamond and Gold Snake Ring, by Maurice Beck
A French, Art Nouveau ruby and diamond double snake ring, one head is set with a pink toned ruby the other is set with an old-cut diamond, both heads are engraved to represent scales, mounted in gold, with a French eagle head mark, for 18ct gold and a maker's mark, with M.B. and a four leaf clover, for Maurice Beck, 1898 to 1926. Beck was a successful jewellery manufacturer, in Paris. During the 1920s he made jewellery for René Boivin. He married Flora Huppert, (Aunt of poet Hugo Huppert). Beck invested in the Huppert family apartment building, at 6 Tuchmachergasse, Beilitz, Austria, now Poland.
