Moira Sapphire, Diamond, Emerald and Silver Upon Gold Bird of Paradise Brooch, Circa 2002

A Moira, contemporary, bird of paradise brooch, with pavé set round faceted sapphires, emeralds and eight-cut diamonds, with marquise-cut ruby eyes, mounted in silver upon gold, the back of the body is engraved with a floral pattern, with a pin and trombone catch fitting. Signed Moira and numbered 6000. With estimated stone weights of 3.00 carats of sapphires, 4.00 carats of emeralds and 2.50 carats of diamonds, made circa 2002.

Moira’s eponymous collection was inspired by clients searching for unusual jewellery that just couldn’t be sourced anywhere. Influenced by nature itself, Moira put together a collection representing the forms of flora and fauna, employing what are now rare traditional setting techniques, old-cut stones and enamel in its various styles. The plique à jour method resembles rich stained glass. These romantic pieces are set to become the heirlooms of the future.
