Hera Gold Cameo Brooch with Sardonyx and Natural Pearl, Circa 1890
A cameo brooch, depicting Hera, the ancient Greek goddess of women, marriage and childbirth, on a sardonyx hardstone cameo, with a dark brown background, mounted in yellow gold surround, set with six, natural half pearls, spaced between sets of three white enamel lines, with a glazed locket back, which appears to contain woven hair. With French eagle marks for 18ct gold and a maker's mark, circa 1890.
